And welcome to my web site! Throughout the following pages you will follow the thread of my life in music from the mid sixties until the present time.
The first ten years of my life was spent growing up in Amsterdam, Holland where I was born in 1948. My family migrated to Australia in 1959 and chose to settle in Adelaide, South Australia. This is where my interest in music started when, as a young high school student, I got together with other migrant friends and started learning the popular songs of the day.
This led to the formation of my first group, ZOOT. After living in Adelaide for ten years, ZOOT took me to Melbourne where the band found fame without the fortune. From late 1968 until 1971, ZOOT remained one of Australia’s most popular teenybopper groups adored by their largely female following. ZOOT disbanded amicably in April 1971.
From 1971 – 1972 Darryl Cotton (the lead singer of ZOOT) and I formed a duo called FRIEZE. Named after a Melbourne suit manufacturer, FRIEZE made us a little fortune but without the fame we gained in ZOOT.
From 1972 – 1974 I joined the band MISSISSIPPI that played all over Australia during the years when pub rock was the rage. An ill-fated trip to London, England in 1974 brought about the band’s demise.
Then from 1975 – 1983, as a founding member of LITTLE RIVER BAND, I found fame with the fortune! The band had tremendous success with a run of hit records all over the world.
Since moving to the United States in 1992, I have concentrated mainly on song writing, producing and recording. Bill Cuomo and I formed SONIC SORBET RECORDS, an independent record label, in 1998. Our debut release was my first ever solo project, "Driven By Dreams".
