Rick Springfield Reforms Zoot

Zoot, the Australian rock band from the 60s featuring Rick Springfield, Beeb Birtles, Daryl Cotton and Rick Brewer, are reforming for a cruise show.

All members of Zoot went on to other things after the band broke up. Rick became the solo star with hits like ‘Jessie’s Girl’ and ‘Speak To The Sky’, Darryl went solo and had a Top 10 hit with ‘Same Old Girl’, Rick formed The Ferrets and had a number one song with ‘Don’t Fall In Love’ and Beeb formed Mississippi then Little River Band and had global success.

The original band will perform for the Rick Springfield and Friends cruise leaving Miami in November.

Zoot’s biggest hit was their acid rock cover of The Beatles ‘Eleanor Rigby’. It reached no. 3 on the Australian charts in 1971. Soon after, the band broke up.

Itinerary for the cruise:

Saturday Nov 5, 2011 Miami, Florida
Sunday Nov 6, 2011 Day at Sea
Monday Nov 7, 2011 Ocho Rios
Tuesday Nov 8, 2011 Grand Cayman
Wednesday Nov 9, 2011 Day at Sea

  • Hey Beeb – I was in touch with you about 4 years ago when you, Glenn and Graeham got together and did that concert video. Still awesome, btw…

Good to see your working… even if it’s on another project. Any chance the three of you will get back together at some point?

And again, thanks for sending me that LRB Greatest Hits CD with alternate vocal versions.

    The Best,

  • Beeb,
It was great to meet you and watch all of you perform. You guys need to make plans and play some dates here in the US with Rick.

  • Hi Beeb
Cheers from Brisabe in sunny Queensland.. Mate, LRB was the best… Hoping that sometime soon you will reform maybe under a different name for a concert tour round Oz…There are so many who grew up on your music and remember things fondly just by hearing your songs…Im coming home still is a classic. If you do reform for a tour dont forget Ipswich here either…saw Glenn a few years ago and was great..cheers Beeb
